Doug Scheer, Program Coordinator, and all the Mount Pakenham CADS-NCD Instructors and Volounteers are waiting to welcome returning and new skiers to the program, as well as the snow, of course!

Eight week sessions will begin on Saturday, January 2, 2010 and continue until Friday, February 26, 2010. Our year-end closing event will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010. During the 2009 ski season, we provided lessons to 23 skiers with the participation of 27 volounteers and instructors. This year, we expect to have 33 skiers and 33 volounteers/instructors in the program.

The program now includes four sit skis for people confined to wheelchairs, including adult and junior models, with one monoski, an entry racing model. We have one Snow Slider walker for children and adults with walking or balance difficulties and three sets of outriggers. And, we have a variety of harnesses and specialized equipment for disabled stand-up skiers as well. We also have two sets of bibs for visually impaired skiers.

The big news this year is our own storage facility for all this specialized equipment, together with workshop area, adjacent to the Mount Pakenham Rental Shop. Its fully accessible and almost complete and ready for the new season.

We would like to congratulate Mount Pakenham on the addition of a new Quad Chairlift to replace the double. We are all looking forward to trying it out!

The program may be able to assist disabled/special needs students who wish to join their classmates on school trips to Mount Pakenham. Please contact the number below to check on the availability of instructors/volounteers.
