The by laws of the association specify a board of directors of twelve members, with six of these being elected as a representative from each of the six programs and another six elected by the membership as Directors at Large.

The Directors at Large form the executive and the program directors represent and often co-ordinate a specific program. The board is responsible for developing strategy and policy for the organization to fulfill its mission. It is also responsible for ensuring that all programs in the Division operate at the high standards expected by CADS.

The board of directors meet at least six times a year, including at an annual general meeting held in the Fall. The minutes of the meetings are available to all members.
